FLAG DAY 2007 LUNCHEON

It will once again be FLAG DAY and this year is the 230th anniversary of our United States Flag as so described in 1777 by the Second Continental Congress. Many years later it has several names … including the Stars and Stripes, Old Glory, and the Star Spangled Banner.

How did the wording of its description become reality? What made this flag unique from other colonial flags which you have seen as part of the Hub Scott Flag Collection? Who do you think about in connection to this flag? These and other questions will be answered by our guest speaker from the past.

Who has not heard the story of BETSY ROSS?  WELL, now you can hear, as Paul Harvey says… “The Rest of the Story”, from this person DIRECTLY,  if you attend our 2007 Flag Day Luncheon!

Our special guest speaker will be DORIS WALKER, Past Regent of Lagonda Chapter, DAR, appearing in Revolutionary War dress to relate the story of this historic moment (as depicted in the image to the left) when she displayed her handiwork and created a symbol that is emblematic of our Patriot Ancestors’ heritage as well as our Unites States of America.  Come join us for an interesting and fascinating story as we hear from BETSY ROSS herself as she tells us all about MY FLAG and YOUR FLAG !

George Rogers Clark compatriots and guests are invited to our Flag Day meeting which this year will be celebrated on SATURDAY, JUNE 16, 2007 as a NOON LUNCHEON … to see the lady & her flag.

Bring a guest and perhaps a potential member for this interesting program.
