WASHINGTON’S BIRTHDAY OBSERVANCE - 2003

This month our nation observes the 271st anniversary of the birth of our most famous Patriot, George Washington. During 1999 we Compatriots of the SAR memorialized his December 14, 1799 death with a year-long observance of his life. As the Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army, the Chairman of the Philadelphia Convention (which wrote the Constitution), and our first President, he endures over the years as one of American’s greatest heroes. It is fitting that we celebrate his birthday in this our Chapter’s 80th Anniversary and Statehood Bicentennial Year ON HIS BIRTHDAY --- FEBRUARY 22nd.

After our earlier joint luncheon meeting on Feb. 8th with members of Elizabeth Kenton Society CAR and Lagonda Chapter DAR, we will hold this GRCC Luncheon two weeks later.

During this special program we will honor outstanding members of three law enforcement agencies in our area with the prestigious S.A.R. Law Enforcement Commendation Medal.

Your chapter has presented this prestigious award for at least 13 years in its continuing efforts to recognize individuals who have served to protect our safety in the communities of the Clark County area and Springfield itself.

COME JOIN US for an enjoyable noon meal of fellowship, recognition, and patriotism.
BRING your spouse or guest and even a PROSPECTIVE MEMBER.
REMEMBER: Every Compatriot is part of the Membership Committee !

WHERE: The Springfield Inn - our “chapter home” - downtown Springfield
MENU:    The Inn’s holiday special Old Fashioned Washington Meat Loaf dinner with natural gravy and whipped potatoes, peas & carrots, tossed salad, rolls, beverage, and ... of course ... a patriotic DESSERT too.
COST:     $12.50 per person (gratuity included)
WHO:     Compatriots, spouses, guests, prospective members, and friends.

For this meal we are expecting quite a few guests from the law enforcement agencies and so we are requesting that everyone MAIL their Reservations IF POSSIBLE.
