We are pleased to have Lt. Col. John Kennedy Chance as our newest member of the George Rogers Clark Chapter, SAR. He was introduced and inducted by his sponsor, Compatriot Terry A. Whetstone.

Also, Recently Approved

Joseph E. Baker, brother-in-law of GRCC Compatriot Bruce Nolan Wilson and Uncle to Bruce Edward Wilson. Brother to Iris Wilson (Mrs. Bruce N. Wilson) Patriot Ancestor = Reuben Ford Approved 2-15-2001 Resident of St. Louis, MO

Youth Contest Committee reports included a drastic increase in the number of applicants in "The Knight Essay" contest, according to Committee Chairman, Bill Smith.

Terry Whetstone said that the number of entries for the "D.G. High Oration" contest was about the same as it had been, in previous years.

"The Eagle Scout Scholarship" competition rules had changed for 2001, making entry qualifications so stringent that The George Rogers Clark Chapter has yet to receive one qualified applicant, thus far, for 2001. Committee Chairman, Joe Taylor said that it does not appear as though we will even have a representative from our chapter to send to State Competition.

Terry Whetstone's report on "The ROTC Award" program cited an expansion of entry eligibility that will encourage greater participation.

"The Flag Award"

Martin Whetstone has had several good candidates for this prestigious honor given to Patriotic Individuals or Businesses who fly the Flag 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for patriotic purposes. The Flag must be lighted at night and Martin asked for everybody to stay on the look out for possible, eligible applicants and to inform him of anyone who may be interested in receiving this award.

Let's all do our best! If you know of any qualified, possible recipients, please e-mail the information (Patriot's Name and Address) to tawhetstone@donet.com.
