GEORGE WASHINGTON BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION - 2010

As we begin this new SAR year we again celebrate his impact on our Nation and a seemingly long ago struggle for its freedom during 1775-1783. We will also recognize the accomplishments of three other U.S. Presidents who were born in the month of February. (Can you name the other two besides Abe ?)

Especially being celebrated this year is the Bicentennial of the birth of Abraham Lincoln - 2-12-1809.
We have a much different nation now than that of President Washington or President Lincoln. Let’s look back to our first and 16^th Presidents for inspiration for a future that has withstood over 220 years of challenges. Their character and leadership are our examples today.

This year his actual birth date is on a Monday, so we will celebrate his 278^th birthday

TWO (2) DAYS EARLIER ----> Saturday, FEBRUARY 20th !

This will be an NOON Luncheon and program. Members of Lagonda Chapter DAR and the Elizabeth Kenton Society C.A.R. are invited, as well other SAR compatriots and any guests you may wish to bring, to include prospective SAR members.

During this special celebration we will again honor three members of law enforcement agencies in our area with the S.A.R. Law Enforcement Commendation Medal. Your Chapter has presented this prestigious award for over 20 years now in its efforts to recognize these individuals who have served to protect our safety in Clark County and Springfield itself.

COME JOIN US for an enjoyable meal of fellowship, recognition, and patriotism !

WHEN: SATURDAY . . . February 20, 2010 . . . NOON

WHERE: Courtyard by Marriott – Springfield (100 S. Fountain Street)

MENU: Sliced Top Sirloin Rounds, Mashed Potatoes, Vegetable Blend Mix, house salad, bread basket, beverage, and … of course … a patriotic DESERT too. (Advise if vegetarian or special diet)

COST: $14.00 per person (gratuity included)

WHO: Compatriots, spouses, guests, prospective members, DARs, C.A.R., and friends of honorees

For this meal, we are expecting quite a few guests from the three law enforcement agencies and so we are requesting that everyone MAIL their Reservations IF POSSIBLE, by Tue. Feb. 16^th, 2010.
